Luckily, the rest of our group had rented separate lots. While I completely understood, I was not prepared for this surprise and wish they had notified me in advance of this change.
It was reported that they were taken advantage of in the past with a very large group. This took my bill from a typical $15-$25 per night to a 3X rate resulting in a $175 charge for 3 days. Fees: Due to the addition of a tent and extra car on my lot, they required me to pay additional fees for each tent and car that was added to the lot. When we arrived in August things had changed because I was provided with a strict rule that "group camping is not allowed." It is a private campground so this was completely understandable that rules could be changed based on the best interest of the business. I was told that it would not be a problem and I booked the lot with quoted prices. In June of 2018 I called and made sure that the owners would be okay with renting the secluded sites for a group of 10 to 12. The campground had several spots open and we were able to seclude ourselves, relax, enjoy the fire, and camp without any issues. At that time we had a party of three and two tents. We first visited in 2017 and were highly impressed with the grounds and owners. Overall this campground has many great amenities including private lots, RV sites, electrical hookup, very clean bathrooms, wi-fi, yard games on-site, firewood delivery, water accessibility for hook-up and for aquatic sports (a mile away or so), a campground store, and flyers and maps for local attractions. Hilton Playa del Carmen, an All-Inclusive Adult Only Resort.In summary, I provided a poor rating due to the poor communication and disappointment over the service we recieved versus what was expected, and the inability to have the experience I had hoped to have on a special occasion. Tip: Tent 6 primitive site is rather large and excellent for a secluded site and Tent 2 water/electric is secluded and has both hook-ups that make for a wonderful experience. The service is relaxed and is good quality when it comes to the basics of booking the site (minus clear expectations), maintainance of the property and shower/bathrooms, and delivery of firewood.
That being said, we all have many nuances to our day. Customer Service: In 2017 we found a very pleasant demenear and this was replaced in 2018 with hostility and defense mechanisms surrounding our arrival. Therefore, if you plan to camp with friends, know that you will need your own lots OR go to a different campground.
